Marie Louise McConville: Sickened by disgusting attacks on the elderly community

It's easy to see how such a reprehensible act could leave the rest of us in despair.

I really struggle to understand how a person can walk into a vulnerable pensioner's home, in broad daylight, and rob her while she lies on her bed resting.

I've known Rosaleen Wilson all my life.

She has lived in her Bearnagh Drive home for more than 50 years and she's been part of my family's life for just as long.

Having grown up just a short distance away from the 80-year-old's home, she has shared in pretty much every chapter in my life.

Whenever I had a sponsor form for the guides, Rosaleen was always on hand with a donation, she attended my wedding, when my children were born she was on hand with gifts and last October, she joined us to celebrate my mum and dad's golden wedding anniversary.

She has always been a kind, thoughtful, generous lady and to think that someone stole from her like this has left me sickened.

Not only did the lowlife rob her last Monday morning, but he returned in the early hours of the following morning - presumably using a spare key from the handbag he had stolen earlier - and stole from her again.

Rosaleen has been left absolutely devastated.

And these last few days, things have taken an even more heartbreaking turn.

In 2000, Rosaleen lost her son Paul to leukaemia.

The 34-year-old, who was known to many as `Rib', was the apple of his mother's eye.

Before he died, he gave his mother money to buy herself something and when he passed away, she decided to buy a gold chain which had a pendant on it which bore a hologram image of Paul.

The precious item of jewellery was kept tucked away by Rosaleen and on the occasion she took it out, she held it close and kissed it so she could feel close to the son she had sadly lost.

The man who invaded Rosaleen's Andersonstown home last week took this item.

I mean, what on earth is he going to do with a chain and pendant which bears a stranger's image?

Is someone really going to buy this and wear it?

It's unlikely.

Also taken was a precious gold locket given to Rosaleen by her late husband, Joe, which bore photos of the devoted couple.

What kind of person will buy this locket, throw away the photos and wear it?

I'll tell you who - only the lowest of the low.

The person who carried out these appalling acts should hang their head in utter shame. He is a disgusting human being.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of these items of jewellery please do the right thing and make arrangements for them to be returned.

Enough pain has been caused here.

Let's try and give Rosaleen some comfort.

It's the least she deserves.

It was great fun to reunited with my old pals, The Derry Girls this week.

The third and final series returned to Channel 4 on Tuesday night and what a brilliant opening episode it was - my face was aching from so much laughter.

Of course, while it was great to see Erin, Orla, Clare, Michelle and James and the fantastic Sister Michael, seeing the big man from Ballymena - Liam Neeson - make an appearance was just the best and I'm sure I'm not the only one who was swooning.

Great to see you back guys. Here's to lots more fun.

US singer Britney Spears has revealed she is pregnant with her third child - and I'm over the moon for her.

Announcing the news on Instagram, the 40-year-old performer wrote: "So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby".

In the post, the singer, who has two sons, Sean (16) and Jayden (15) with ex Kevin Federline, referred to her fiance, Sam Asghari as her husband, sparking rumours they have also secretly married.

The news comes after the brave star recently fought to end a conservatorship which, it was reported, prevented her from getting married and forced her to use birth control so she couldn't get pregnant.

She said at the time: "I just want my life back.

"This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life".

And now, the singer is set to welcome a new baby signalling a new chapter in her life.

Father-to-be Sam also posted on social media: "Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don't take lightly. It is the most important job I will ever do".

I wish them both lots of happiness.
