EATING more fruit and veg may stave off depression and anxiety. Research on 6,000 men and women reported in the journal Social Science & Medicine found that the more fruit and veg they ate, the less likely they were to have developed depression and/or anxiety two years later. Fruit and veg contain vitamin B12, which has been linked to boosting production of brain chemical serotonin. This regulates mood and is the target of antidepressants which seek to increase its effect say researchers from Warwick University.
