THE PERFECT WORKOUT FOR YOU. THIS WEEK: GOOD AT CONCENTRATING? TRY SOCCER

You might think that strong legs would be the most important attribute for a soccer player, but actually a study by researchers from VU University in the Netherlands found that the way players thought was the key to success.

Specifically, the best players could maintain focus on what was going on around them on the field more effectively than others. Not only did this let them anticipate where the ball would go next, a 2016 study from the University of Kent showed players move slower and are up to 5 per cent less accurate during shooting and passing if they are mentally tired.

If you want to play well, don’t perform tasks requiring intense concentration before your next match.
