ANAM Cara, a "lifeline" to bereaved parents in Northern Ireland, is hosting its monthly parent evening next Wednesday in Armagh.

The meeting, in Armagh City Hotel, runs from 7.30pm until 9pm and is open to all parents who have lost a child, whether recently or many years ago.

One parent, who attended a recent meeting of Anam Cara Northern Ireland, says the group offers a "safe and comfortable forum" in which parents can offer each other much-need emotional support.

"What I heard was so familiar to me, I felt less alone and understood," she said. “There is no pressure to talk, yet you feel supported by the other parents who know how desperately hard it is after your child has died. Like so many bereaved parents, Anam Cara has been my lifeline."

Anam Cara CEO Sharon Vard also encouraged anyone interested to take a look at the website – anamcara.ie – which features short videos and testimonies from bereaved parents and couples who have attended previous events.
