Well, what a disaster that was.

If, like me, you take the weather forecasts with a pinch of salt, this past week, you most likely took quite the kicking from the so-called Beast from the East.

Don’t get me wrong, I had packed gloves in my handbag as a precaution, never for one minute thinking I would actually need a portable sub-zero survival kit too.

Of course, while the snow and ice were a pain, and made getting around very difficult, for me, it was personal and now I have a very angry score to settle with old Beastie.

Having had the first two months of the year to pay us a visit, the Beast instead chose the one weekend when we had special plans as our little James turned two on Sunday.

Of course, we had planned a party on Saturday with a bouncy castle booked for the garden.

It was all sorted.

The entertainment was booked.

The party food and cake had been purchased

The party bags had been packed.

However, the Beast then decided it would choose this one weekend to meet up with his pal, Storm Emma to go on the rip.

With 48 hours to go, as show blizzards battered the province, we decided to concede defeat and call the party off.

That said, this was after trying to find a hall at the last minute and then trying to work out the dimensions to see if the bouncy castle would fit.

Despite a grand effort, it was not to be.

The thing is, with Abbie’s birthday in December, a bouncy castle is out of the question and so, March for James’s birthday is really their only chance to have such fun in their own back garden.

So now, in a bid to prevent further weather-related-party-trouble, I have decided to introduce a new tradition.

The annual McConville Family Funday will take place each Summer (date to be confirmed) and we will invite all our family and friends to enjoy a bouncy castle and general fun and hopefully we won’t have to live in fear of the weather.

In the meantime, we have now re-scheduled James’s party.

I just hope we’ve seen the last of the Beast from the East because let me tell you, he does not want to clash with an angry Mum from the West – now that would really be a disaster.

And so it begins.

I don’t know about you, but I was really starting to run out of patience with Coronation Street.

After what seems like a lifetime of terror on the cobbles, this week, evil Pat Phelan finally seen his life begin to unravel.

Played brilliantly by actor, Connor McIntyre, we’ve seen this header already kill three people, send an innocent woman to prison and generally cause mayhem.

When he fell into that liquid cement the other night, I thought `Yes, this is it' but nope, his reign of terror continues.

I’m really hoping this is the beginning of the end – finally.
