ARTHRITIS Care is helping people to learn how to manage living with chronic pain through, rather than resorting to an increase in medication, offering places in a several free workshops in the new year at An Chulturlann on Belfast's Falls Road.

Targeting people aged over 18 who have health conditions such as MS, Parkinson’s, fibromyalgia and arthritis or anyone with chronic pain, the Challenging Pain courses focus on managing pain by using relaxation and breathing techniques, exercise and improved communication in two separate three-hour sessions over a fortnight.

The courses, which are supported by the Health and Social Care Board, take place at An Chulturlann on Wednesday January 17 and 24 from 10am to 1pm. Arthritis Care is also delivering a six-session course at the centre starting on Wednesday February 21 at 10.30am.
