Marie Louise McConville: This Sex and the City fan is disappointed that a third movie has been canned

A third Sex and The City movie has been cancelled even before filming began.
A third Sex and The City movie has been cancelled even before filming began. A third Sex and The City movie has been cancelled even before filming began.

Well, that’s that then.

Ladies, just put those dusty Manolos away and don’t bother having those glitzy Louboutins re-heeled – there’s no point.

After all the hype, all the hope and all the reminiscing – Sex and The City 3 is not happening and it’s all thanks to a certain blonde-haired person.

Kim Cattrall, you really have a lot to answer for lady.

Here we all were, on the edge of our seats, awaiting news that filming has finally begun and just as the cameras were about to start rolling on the third movie in the Sex and The City franchise, it’s canned, reportedly all because of Miss Cattrall and her demands.

I don’t mind telling you, this is not good news Kim.

You should spare a thought for us - the fans - who will now have to suffer in silence because we won’t get to see our very-much-missed, best-dressed pals, Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha, for one last hooley.

You see, gone are our single days when we looked to imitate your New York lifestyle by stepping in our fake Manolos to sip on Cosmopolitans while we flirted with the eye candy.

Now, with many of us married and having children, we don’t have the same time or money to fly our kites out on the town any more.

That is why a third and final Sex and The City movie was crucial for our sanity.

But now that prospect has been spoiled.

And while initial reports claimed your actions had simply stalled filming we have since learned that the entire project has now been cancelled.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who played the wonderful writer, Carrie Bradshaw, has confirmed that the project is now `over'.

"We’re not doing it," she said.

"I’m disappointed. We had a beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story.

"It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie".

The 52-year-old’s comments came just hours after media reports claimed plans for the movie had been temporarily shelved due to demands made by Kim Cattrall – who plays PR executive Samantha Jones.

It was claimed the 61-year-old wanted Warner Bros – the makers of Sex and The City – to also produce other movies she had in development.

Apparently, Warner Bros refused and so the project has been binned.

In response to the allegations, Kim Cattrall tweeted: `The only 'DEMAND' I ever made was that I didn't want to do a 3rd film... and that was back in 2016".

Whatever is going on in all of this, this is one fan who is not happy.

While I will concede that the second movie, which was set in Abu Dhabi, was not very good – at all – I still enjoyed it and really would have been excited to see a third.

It would have been great to see the ladies back together again, having some giggles – we may also have been introduced to a new cocktail or two along the way.

No doubt there would have been fabulous fashion and towering heels and who can forget all those fabulous one-liners?

I’m not sure if Mr Big – played by Chris Noth – would have made an appearance but it would have been fun to see what all the gang were up to at this stage in their lives.

Now we’re not getting any of that.

Come on Kim, isn’t there a way we can sort this out?

Why don’t you and I go out for a wee chat over a Mojito and talk it through?

I’m sure we can come to some arrangement.

Myself and the millions of other SATC fans need this to happen so, what’s it going to take?
