THIS excellent American drama about the exploits of a group of programmers and entrepreneurs through the evolution of the computer industry starts its fourth and final series this Sunday on Amazon Prime Video.
Having covered the innovations and frustrations of the 1980s' home computer boom, at the end of the last season we left Cameron (Mackenzie Davis), Joe (Lee Pace) and co in 1990 at the dawning of the World Wide Web and Internet age.
Joining the regular cast for the show's swansong will be Anna Chlumsky of Veep (and the My Girl movies) as Dr Katie Herman, who joins the NeXT project with Joe, Cameron and Gordon (Scoot McNairy) to help them create one of the first functional internet search engines.
Despite critical acclaim, Halt and Catch Fire has never attracted huge viewing figures, so kudos is due to parent network AMC (home to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) for allowing creators Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C Rogers to wrap things up to their – and our – satisfaction with one final series.
