IT’S A rare but pleasant experience to see the floodlights of Windsor Park while lying on a heated tile stone bed, feeling like you are a million miles away from Belfast. But that’s exactly what Spa Experience offers in the recently opened Olympia Leisure Centre, run by operator GLL under its 'Better' brand.

It's a welcome addition to the new building and offers a real touch of luxury for all who attend the south Belfast centre which is the first public centre to have a day spa.

With a massive whirlpool tub in the centre of the spa and steam rooms and sauna close to hand, the facilities are slick and impressive while the treatment rooms and reception are decorated in the rich, warm earth tones that many high-end salons favour.

I opted to have the Elemis Pro Collagen Age Defy (£70) which is designed to tackle fine lines and wrinkles, with the clinically proven age-defying benefits of marine charged Padina Pavonica and Red Coral.

My therapist Camilia was expert and friendly; her chat the right balance between soothing and informative.

Apparently it's the Papaya enzyme peel that's the 'magic' part of the treatment.

And after 45 minutes of relaxing in the spa followed by my 50-minute facial, all I can say is that I felt and looked infinitely 'better' for my visit.
