THERE'S plenty of literary fun for young visitors to Bangor's Aspects Festival this month. The town's Castle Walled Garden will host the festival yurt and provide an atmospheric venue for the large-scale Mega Doodle on September 24 and 25, where families can contribute using a variety of art materials.

For those taking a stroll through the gardens that weekend, there's the added challenge of spotting 20 neon books peeping out from behind the flowers and shrubs.

The adjacent North Down Museum is the venue for budding writers who are invited to make their own mini-books, as well as seek inspiration on what to read next from The Book Doctors.

On September 24 from noon to 4pm this free event run by the Children’s Books Ireland Book Clinic invites young readers to chat about their favourite books, comics or things to do, before the doctor makes a diagnosis and write a prescription for your next reads.

Also on September 24, at Bangor Library children aged six to10 are invited to an art session inspired by the illustrations of Hungry Caterpillar author Eric Carle.
