PRE-SCHOOLERS and their parents are invited to take part in an underwater adventure as part of National Bookstart Week this week.

The BookTrust’s annual celebration aims to inspire families to get in to the habit of reading every day. ‘Under the Sea’ is the theme this year and children are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite nautical character or creature; Libraries NI is hosting a number of Rhyme & Rhythm events in libraries across the north.

Each year a particular book is chosen – Jessica Law and Jill McDonald’s A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea has been selected for 2016. With the support of Belfast Harbour, children who take part will be treated to a free copy of the adventure picture book.

:: National Bookstart Week runs until June 12 in libraries across Northern Ireland. Entry to the Rhyme & Rhythm events is free. You can book a place for any Bookstart event at your library; see: www.bookstart.org.uk.
