Holy Week reflection: Rt Rev Dr Ian McNie, Presbyterian Church

AFTER the Crucifixion and the death of Jesus Christ, came the news of His resurrection.

Initially His disciples were despondent and torn, bewildered and grief-stricken. But as the news of His Resurrection became a reality for them, hope replaced despair, triumph succeeded tragedy and their lives were transformed.

Two millennia later, the same news has impacted and changed the lives of countless millions - as witnessed in the phenomenal growth of the Christian church. No other single event in history has touched and changed the lives of so many.

The message of the Resurrection calls us to respond to the teaching and work of Jesus Christ in order that we can become Children of God.

This response includes repentance and acknowledgement that Jesus Christ's death and Resurrection enables us to have pardon for the past, leading to peace in the present and hope for the future.

I hope and pray that this Easter the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ impacts you.
