ANDROID smartphone users can download free apps from Amazon using its new Underground store – and they're devoid of the usual in-app-purchase costs that often plague such freebies. Amazon pays the developers so there's no catch for users who just want complimentary versions of popular premium titles such as Fruit Ninja, Goat Simulator or Office Professional 8.
To download the Underground app and get started, go to www.amazon.co.uk/underground via your phone's web browser. Because you're bypassing the Google Play store, you might have to alter your handset's security settings to allow the installation of 'unknown sources' software. Read the terms and conditions before installing.
