Take a trip to sunny Rio via the Ulster Hall

FAMILY films Rio, The Jungle Book, Muppet Treasure Island and Turbo will be screened at the Ulster Hall in Belfast over the summer. The venue's popular `Family Movie Mornings' are aimed at children aged from three to 11 and each screening is preceded by activities and child friendly crafts.

The first screening – on Saturday May 30 – is Rio, the heart-warming 3D animated comedy adventure from 2011 set in Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforests of Brazil. It features the voices of Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx and Jesse Eisenberg.

Also screening is The Jungle Book (on Saturday June 13), the classic 1967 Disney animation. The screening comes ahead of two new Jungle Book films in the next couple of years: an animated version directed by Jon Favreau and featuring the voices of Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong'o, Bill Murray and Idris Elba; and a live action film directed by Andy Serkis and starring Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris and Jack Reynor.

The other films on the bill are Muppet Treasure Island (Saturday July 4) and Turbo (Saturday August 15). There will also be a screening of Paddington on Saturday June 20, presented by Cruse Bereavement Care as part of Beyond Words Month.

“At a time when many families are under financial pressure our Family Movie Mornings provide a much-needed opportunity for children, parents and grandparents to spend quality time together without having to spend a fortune,” said Jan Carson from The Ulster Hall. “We're particularly excited about making some carnival themed crafts before Rio transports us to the colourful land of Brazil.”

The movie mornings kick off at 9.45am, with the films starting at 10.30am.
