Divorced worse off

PEOPLE planning to retire this year who have previously been divorced will typically be £2,100 a year worse off than those who have never had a marriage break-up, research suggests. Prudential, which has tracked the future plans and aspirations of people planning to retire in the next 12 months, found that for divorcees, the average expected retirement income is £15,700 compared with £17,800 for those who have not been divorced. The research surveyed more than 1,000 people planning to retire in 2015.
