Willy Vlautin and Glenn Patterson in conversation, Wednesday January 29, The Ulster Museum

BELFAST'S best alternative bookshop No Alibis is bringing cult American author and musician Willy Vlautin back to town for a special evening of words and tunes at The Ulster Museum.

Local Bafta-nominated author Glenn Patterson will be hosting this special event at which the Richmond Fontaine leader and acclaimed novelist will be discussing his latest book

The Free, along with previous career highlights such as Lean on Pete.

Vlautin specialises in highly atmospheric stories populated by the downtrodden yet defiant folk of 'the real America'.

A tale of three lost souls whose paths cross at a group home for war veterans, The Free is due out at the beginning of next month, published by Faber & Faber. However, you'll be able to buy a copy directly from Willy on the night in Belfast. He might even sign it for you if you ask him nice.

The author will also be slipping on his muso hat during the course of the evening to play us a few tunes, so Richmond Montaine fans should have their requests ready.

This is a free event but you'll need a ticket for admission - get yours now from No Alibis on Botanic Avenue. n
