Sin City - the mini series

THERE was good news for fans of 2005's visually stunning neo-noir movie

Sin City

this week with an announcement that the long-awaited sequel to the Frank Miller/ Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantinodirected film is to be followed by a TV spin-off.

Based on Miller's hit series of pulp fiction-inspired graphic novels, the original movie featured an all-star cast including Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen and Jessica Alba in a slick, ultra-violent series of inter-related vignettes set in the thankfully fictional Basin City.

Several of the original cast (those whose characters survived at any rate) are set to return for the sequel, Kill For, due out next summer.

Whether any of them will also make it to the mooted small screen series remains to be seen - but producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein are reportedly keen to get a TV version up and running soon after it's release.

With Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez both said to be involved, this could be one of the most interesting TV shows to hit the air for many years.
