BOOKS on Nirvana are 10-a-penny and most of them are worth just about as much. However, despite featuring words by pre-eminent Nirvana bandwagon jumper Charles R Cross (author of the truly cringe-inducing Kurt Cobain biography, Heavier Then Heaven), The Complete Illustrated History largely eschews posthumous myth-making in favour of chronological factual record.
As its title suggests, this is a book you don't even have to actually read to appreciate - its well worth leafing through for a quick gander at hundreds of photos of Cobain and his band (by the likes of Charles Peterson, Ian Tilton and Steve Double), plus images depicting poster art, ticket stubs, merchandise and even the band's guitars.
With most of Nirvana's original fanbase now bored, old and in need of interesting literature to adorn our coffee tables with, The Complete Illustrated History is a must-have lifestyle accessory for any Generation X pad.
