SAFEFOOD has launched a public health initiative across the island of Ireland to emphasise the importance of taking on practical changes for the whole family to help parents combat childhood obesity. The three-year campaign will remind parents about the negative health impacts of excess weight in childhood and how this can impact on a child's quality of life.

Unfortunately, one in four primary school children in Northern Ireland now classified as overweight or obese, which is increasing their risk of health conditions like heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and even cancer later in their life. But it doesn't have to be like this. Making small changes to your children's diet and activity could make big differences to their future health.
