Dublin poet for Belfast reading

RENOWNED poet Micheal O'Siadhail will be in Belfast next Wednesday for a special drinks reception, reading and signing event at the Linenhall Library.

Following an introduction by Mr Justice Donnell Deeny, O'Siadhail will be reading from his new book Collected Poems, recently published by Bloodaxe Books.

This will be followed by a signing event, during which Collected Poems and some of his previously published compilations will be available to buy.

Born in 1947, Dubliner Micheal O'Siadhail was educated at Clongowes Wood College, Trinity College, Dublin and the University of Oslo.

Awarded an Irish American Cultural Institute prize for poetry in 1982 and the Marten Toonder prize for Literature in 1998, O'Siadhail's poem suites The Naked Flame, Summerfest and Earlsfort Suite have been commissioned and set to music for performance and broadcasting.

A member of the RDS since 1969, the poet is a former member of the Arts Council of the Republic of Ireland, a founder member of Aosdana and a former editor of Poetry Ireland Review.

Admission to the special event at Linenhall Library will be £5 on the door on the night, with funds going towards defraying the cost to the Library of the drinks reception which will begin at 6pm. n Visit Osiadhail.com for further information.
