NORTHERN Ireland counselling charity Contact and the Irish Association of Suicidology are holding a joint conference on suicide prevention next month. The theme of the all-Ireland Derry event is Building Resilience and Promoting Recovery.

Keynote speaker will be leading suicide prevention clinical research academic Professor Thomas Joiner, pictured, author of the books Why People Die by Suicide and Myths about Suicide.

The conference is aimed at policy makers, clinicians, suicide prevention activists, those working in justice and policing, faith communities, journalists and those affected or bereaved by suicide.
