LADY Ga Ga returns at last with her latest single, Applause. The single has been released a week in advance on account of internet leaks, with the original plan ironically being to issue the song via a detailed web campaign. This now means that the download will be in head-to-head competition with the Katy Perry's comeback song, Roar - something which, understandably, both artists and their commercial teams had deliberately tried to avoid.
All that business stuff aside however, Applause is a highly charged, melodic club track with a generous sprinkling of 80s glitter. If you are a Ga Ga fan, or should I say Little Monster, you will adore it since it bears all the hallmarks of this very talented lady. Ga Ga certainly knows how to write a chorus and you can expect to be humming Applause constantly over the next few weeks whether you like it or not. The upcoming album is entitled Artpop, an album which Ga Ga herself describes as 'insane'. Something tells me we should believe her.
