Blue for Belfast

H ands up if you remember Deacon Blue. Yes, the Scottish band who could do no wrong in the early 90s reformed late last year and have enjoyed working together again - so much that they have decided to all get on a plane together and come to Belfast to play a show at the Waterfront in September. I remember seeing them at the Ulster Hall countless moons ago when Ricky Ross endeared himself even further to the already extremely receptive audience by saying, "I am so proud to be in the wonderful city of Belfast and so proud to stand here in the hallowed hall of the great Van Morrison." Maybe he'll say that again in September somewhere in between Wages Day and Fergus Sings The Blues or Chocolate Girl and Dignity - you see, the very mention of those songs has brought it all flooding back to you in a deluge of allconsuming nostalgia. If you want to indulge yourself further in that trip down memory lane the tickets for Deacon Blue's show on September 19 have just gone on sale this very morning.
