Submitted by: Doot doot Date: Wed 21 Oct 2009 Club: Comment: The thirds retained the reserve county championship after a hard fought win over fierce rivals Kilcoo. Despite being the better team in the first half we trailed at half time by 5 points on a scoreline of 1-4 to 0-2. The Kilcoo contingent in the stand in Newcastle sensed another Championship was on its way out the road and it certainly looked like that as an even more dominant Town team continued to kick umpteen wides. Finally with only 5 minutes remaining Finbar Rice unleashed a drive towards the net which gave the Kilcoo custodian no chance. There was only one winner after that and straight away yet another Town attack resulted in full forward and player manager Paul Hanna kicking the winning point.A monumental effort by the whole squad who never gave up in a game that looked like slipping away. A deserved win and after a few laps of the Town in the Club bus with flags flying, the squad headed back to the Club for a hearty steak dinner cooked to perfection by the kitchen staff. A special presentation was made to our guest on the day, thirds legend James Clavan Rodgers, who no doubt enjoyed the result as much as the rest of us.It was great to see Clavan out and about again and enjoying himself and the whole squad wish big James all the best in the future. A tour of the Town followed before a quiet ending in the Club. Thats the big one in the bag,but part b follows on Thursday night at 7.30 in Newcastle against Kilcoo.Bring it on! More of the same support as well please.,

Children are trying to listen in on conversations, secret meetings are being held and unidentifiable objects are being ferried from shop to house. No im not talking about Christmas! Im talking about F Factor!! The adrenalin is starting to flow and for all of you who have participated you know what I mean. Until you have experienced the buzz of the Green room, the trepidation of facing the audience, the verdict of the judges and the post mortems back in the Green room, you can never really say you have been fully involved in this brilliant 6 weeks or so. Its one thing the Club can be really proud of and once again the Town have led the way by being the original and the best. Ok granted our PR skills have been bettered by other Clubs recentley who have managed to even get their nights into a Sunday tabloid! But even then they had to steal one of our acts songs to get there! Music man McGiggs will be tortured from now to Christmas but dont feel sorry for him hes made a fortune out of it! Sweeney will be shouting into a microphone,PJ will be pissing someone off with his comments,HT will be fighting with Miceal about bar times,Barney will be having convulsions at the Judges comments and Josie will be once again telling everyone in the smoke room that this will be her last year! Judging of course! Yes F Factor is nearly upon us,when all the weird and wonderful descend upon Castlewellan Club for 3 nights of mayhem, fun and laughter. Best nights entertainment in the Town all year bar none starting Saturday 14th November

It will be interesting to see if "current senior player" "Another Club Player" and "Doot doot" will be there to offer their services. In their own words actions speak louder than words
Submitted by: current senior player Date: Wed 14 Oct 2009 Club: Comment: If the person under the alias "Concerned" is so bothered by the club advertising foreign sports and drinking then maybe they should make the point at the AGM and maybe throw they're hat in the ring and help out with some underage football teams. Currently their are very few past players helping out and this shouldnt be the case as many of these guys have championship medals and about time they gave a little back to the club
Submitted by: Doot doot Date: Mon 12 Oct 2009 Club: Comment: I have to reply to concerneds great concern!Firstly I thought these dinosaurs were extinct a long time ago.To get so obviously upset over the club showing a soccer match in the club come on!And a drinks promotion as well!Dont even try to entice this person or peoples back to the club they would be totally lost in todays world. If the GAA can make money and by the way show case its magnificent stadium to a global audience,by leasing out Croke park then surely the club can make a few bob by showing a soccer intenational in its premises. This myth that only those that play Gaelic games are truly Irish needs to be exploded. There are those of us who love Gaelic Soccer and Rugby in equal measure. So get your head out of the sand concerned before the whole world passes you by!

Submitted by: Date: Sun 11 Oct 2009 Club: Comment: I agree with concerned. Our pathetic showing at the parade in Newry last week is another sign of Club Health. But dont mention it or the overworked committee will be annoyed. Maybe its time to get all members BACK on board,
