The British government has said there are no plans to restrict flights from countries with severe coronavirus outbreaks.

Asked about restricting travel from supposed hotspots like Iran and New York, the Briitsh prime minister's official spokesman said: "There are no plans to do that.

"The level of inward travel into the UK has fallen greatly since the outbreak of the virus and we've seen many transport providers reduce their services.

"The chief medical officer has said there's no evidence that closing borders would have an effect on the spread of infection."
