Kainos appoints new chairman

FAST growing Belfast tech company Kainos has appointed a new chairmain.

Tom Burnet will take over from John Lillywhite, who announced his decision to step down in July.

Mr Lillywhite, who has been a key figure in the Irish tech scene for over 50 years, had been involved with Kainos since 1986, serving as the IT firm’s chairman since 1998.

His successor is currently an independent non-executive director of the company.

Tom Burnett was named the new chair of Kainos Group plc at the company’s AGM on Thursday. He was also named chair of the company’s nominations committee.

Mr Burnett is a former chief executive and executive chairman of AIM-listed company Accesso Technology. He continues to sit on the board of Accesso.

He also sits as non-executive chair on the boards of PCMS Group, The Baillie Gifford US Growth Trust plc and Thinking Group (ITG) Limited.

Commenting on the announcement, Kainos' chief executive Brendan Mooney said:

"I'd like to extend my congratulations to Tom on his appointment and to reiterate my thanks to John, on behalf of the board, for the knowledge and leadership which he brought to his role as chairman.
