IRISH News sister company Interpress has scooped the National Newspaper Printer of the Year title at the 43rd Irish Print Awards in Dublin.

Interpress claimed up the accolade for the fifth time at the awards, which recognise the country’s best companies in the print and press sector.

With more than 180 entries to assess, judges had a difficult decision selecting winners across 31 categories.

Interpress emerged victorious in its category, adding to the long list of awards amassed over the last decade at Ireland and UK level.

It won the Gold award for its printing of the Irish News, but also claimed Bronze in the same category for printing the Impartial Reporter. The award was collected by press hall manager Thomas Carey.

More than 300 professionals from across the print industry attended the black tie gala ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Northwood, hosted by Alan Shortt. The awards were taking place in person for the first time in three years.

Interpress has been widely praised for "demonstrating sharp printing across multiple titles, showing strong colours and solid blacks and a consistent approach to press quality for its customers".

Interpress production manager David Wilson said: "We are delighted to win this award yet again. The quality of The Irish News gets better year on year, and it is a privilege to print it on an ongoing basis."

The recognition for Interpress follows that of The Irish News, which in November was named Regional Newspaper of the Year at the Newsawards 2021 in London after being recognised for its "consistent top-level content".
