EFFORTS to promote Belfast’s attractiveness as an investment location in a post-Covid world have been relaunched by a joint public and private partnership.

The ‘Renewed Ambition’ initiative has emerged in recent years to bring together local government, occupiers and developers.

It has now relaunched its efforts targeting the global real estate investment community.

Speaking at an event inside PwC’s new Merchant Square headquarters last week, Belfast Harbour chief executive, Joe O’Neill, who chairs the Renewed Ambition taskforce, said the initiative “paints a picture of a city poised for an exciting economic future with untapped real estate investment opportunities”.

He said interest in investing in the city is at an all-time high: “Given the unique opportunities that lie ahead of us in relation to dual market access to the UK and Europe, the transition to a green economy, the digital revolution, and the ambitious targets to increase city centre living, this city is poised for a whole new level of investor interest.

“Working together in partnership will be key to locking in all that opportunity in the years that lie ahead.”

Renewed Ambition is expected to focus its efforts on engagement and advocacy as well as targeting specific investor focused events. It will also commission fresh research on real estate investment in Belfast.

John Walsh, the new chief executive of Belfast City Council, said: “Belfast remains an extremely attractive investment proposition and coupled with our particular focus on delivering significant city centre residential opportunities across all housing types, collectively, we will ensure the city continues to realise its opportunity to be a truly fantastic place in which to live, work, play and study.”
