BANBRIDGE-based specialist contractor Kane has been awarded an £8.4 million contract for the full design and build of the mechanical and electrical (MEP) installation at a major housing development London's Westminster City Council.

The Harrow Road by Willmott Dixon scheme, itself worth £46m, is a mixed-use development which will be delivered over a 16-month duration.

The project will consist of 112 apartments within three blocks and will facilitate a car park and the full fit out of a community centre and a nursery.

The energy centre will be located on the roof and will include an innovative, energy efficient air source heat pump (ASHP), with an ambient loop system serving water to water heat pumps in each dwelling, providing heating and cooling to each tenant.

Kane’s specialist teams will be utilising their innovative design, manufacturing, and installation capability to maximise off-site modular solutions including utility PODs and corridor service modules.

Kane has had an ongoing relationship with Wilmott Dixon, and says the importance of early engagement of their services and the value they bring to the project in terms of innovation, buildability and modularisation has been recognised once more.

Cathal McMullan, managing director at Kane, said: “We're delighted to have Willmott Dixon as a long-established client and continue to build a long-lasting relationship delivering design led solutions coupled with off-site prefabrication capabilities.”
