Former Michelin Athletic Club site goes on the market

THE site of the former Michelin Athletic Club at Woodside Road in Ballymena has gone on the open market with an asking price of £700,000.

Spanning close to 8.5 acres (3.4 hectares), the land on the he outskirts of Ballymena and Broughshane is seen as having significant development potential, subject to planning.

The lands are also located beside Ballymena livestock market and are in close proximity to Woodside industrial estate.

The lands comprise the former Michelin sports pitch, former clubhouse and lands adjoining the old Michelin tyre factory, which closed in June 2018.

Michelin announced in November 2015 that it was ending half a century of production in Ballymena, with all 840 jobs at the manufacturing plant being lost, a decision it blamed on a significant downturn in demand for truck tyres in Europe and spiralling energy costs.

Details of the site sale are available from Alan McKinstry (alan.mckinstry@okt.co.uk) at Belfast-based commercial agents O'Connor Kennedy Turtle (www.okt.co.uk).
