OPTOMETRIST and Banbridge Specsavers owner Wayne Watson has invested £60,000 in creating a new dual hearcare and optics test room.

The new facility is in addition to a £40,000 state-of-the-art optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine installed in December 2018. This equipment can help detect eye conditions such as macular degeneration and glaucoma much earlier and help prevent sight loss

The Banbridge store (https://www.specsavers.co.uk/stores/banbridge) now houses three test rooms and since it opened in October 2016 has generated five additional jobs. With a new optometrist due to join in mid-August it will take the total number of staff to 13.

The new test room has enabled Wayne and his team to offer additional optical clinics, complementing existing optical and audiology clinics. The store also offers extra hearing clinics and services twice a week operated by the store audiologist and an HCA (hearcare assistant).

Wayne says: "This investment gives our team the ability to enhance our services to the local Banbridge community and ensure we can provide the best possible experience for customers."
