THE Salthouse Hotel and Spa in Ballycastle has invested £150,000 to help expand its outdoor provision in a venture set to support 30 jobs.

The £5 million coastal resort, which opened in 2019, has developed two self-contained pagodas and a self-contained outdoor kitchen and bar ahead of the return of outdoor dining on April 30.

The 24-bed hotel has also invested in air cleaning technology in preparation for the reopening of hotels and indoor hospitality from May 24.

The family-run business is operated by Nigel and Joann McGarrity and their children Carl and Emma has focused heavily on sustainability and the environment since opening.

The venue offers six three-bedroom eco lodges and a £400,000 eco-friendly spa facility. It also generates its own power on site.

“The Salthouse is in a very favourable position this month to welcome visitors who are keen to enjoy the ambiance and tranquility of our eco-friendly hotel with the knowledge that they are socialising in the safest of environments,” said Carl McGarrity.

“We are now able to reassure our guests that we have taken the utmost care in ensuring our premises are safe to operate during a pandemic, thanks to our new outdoor space and our Ilimex devices which have proven to kill Covid-19.”
