PUB chain JD Wetherspoon is the latest hospitality company to announce its own reduced price scheme as the UK Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ initiative ended on Monday.

The pub group headed by Belfast-born Tim Martin announced cut prices on a range of meals and drinks reduced on Monday to Wednesday until November 11.

Mr Martin said the eat out scheme had proved extremely popular with customers and had been a great boost to the hospitality industry.

A number of restaurants around the north have already announced plans to extend their scheme at their own expense.

In Co Tyrone, the Cheeky Fox restaurant near Omagh was one of the first to announce their own version of the initiative during September. The popular Tattyreagh venue will replicate the 50 per cent discount scheme on Wednesdays and Thursdays this month, as will the Blind Cobbler in Omagh.

Michael Deane said his Belfast restaurant restaurants will offer the same 50 per cent discount on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during September, while the Bengal Brasserie on the Ormeau Road said it will retain the August scheme during September on Monday to Wednesday.

Flame on Howard Street said it will extend it for lunches during September.

A number of other well-known Belfast restaurants, including Home on Wellington Place and Mourne Seafood have announced 25 per cent discounts from Tuesdays to Thursdays.
