THE Ormeau Baths co-working space in Belfast is to waive membership fees for its start-up members for at least the next three months in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The facility's general manager Claire Dowds said: “Considering current events, a number of our members have actively chosen to work remotely for their own safety and to reduce the risk of transmission.

“We are also aware that many of our members, who are still at an early stage of their inception, are faced with uncertainties and are actively seeking to protect their finances, so we are waiving fees for at least three months until the current circumstances return to some form of normality.”

The entrepreneurial workspace supports the brightest and best indigenous tech start-ups in the north by helping them gain access to the networks, funding and expertise needed to succeed in global markets.

Ormeau Baths currently has more than 200 members, including 60 start-ups, and is also home to the Ignite NI accelerator programmes, NI Screen’s Pixel Mill and Digital Catapult’s Immersive Lab.

Claire added: “Our vision is to be a safe place where start-ups and entrepreneurs thrive and grow, and waiving fees will help safeguard the future of our members.

“We are also supporting members by hosting virtual coffee mornings, sharing mental health advice, providing content from mentors and creating dedicated channels for members to ask for advice from one and another.”
