BELFAST City Council has is reviewing plans to lead a major delegation to one of the world’s most important property events in Cannes next month, amid fears over the spread of the Coronavirus.

Around 100 people took part in the delegation that attended MIPIM last year, rubbing shoulders with hundreds of major property investors.

It’s understood that a larger delegation from Belfast is due to attend this year’s four-day event from March 9.

But a series of major firms have already pulled out, including EY, Landsec and Cushman & Wakefeild

Belfast City Council said yesterday that it is continuing to monitor the situation.

“We are in regular contact with the conference organisers Reed MIDEM who, at present, are advising that MIPIM 2020 is proceeding as planned.

“We are also in contact with the UK government and Department of International Trade to seek their advice regards attendance at MIPIM. We will continue to monitor the situation.”
