DERRY-based tech firm Learning Pool has said it expects to add 50 jobs in 2020.

Company founder Paul McElvaney confirmed on Monday that the online learning specialist is seeking to increase its total workforce by 25 per cent this year.

“That's 50 new people in the team,” he said.

The latest set of accounts for Learning Pool show it grew by 28 per cent in the year to April 30 2019. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITA) came in at £4.14m on turnover of £13.77.

The firm’s growth has been accelerated through a series of acquisitions.

Last June, the e-learning group announced its third takeover in as many years, when it purchased Oxfordshire-based HT2 Labs.

Learning Pool is now eyeing further growth on the other side of the Atlantic. It recently announced the appointment of its first vice-president for North America.

Sharon Claffey Kaliouby has been charged with guiding the e-learning group's expansion into the United States and Canada.
