LARNE-based Kilwaughter Holdings, one of the north’s leading manufacturers providing specialist products for the construction and agriculture sectors, says its consolidated group turnover for the 12 months to last April rose by 20 per cent on the previous year to £40.4 million.

Pre-tax profit in the same period increased by 4 per cent to £8 million, its accounts show.

Kilwaughter said this reflected the acquisition of Alumasc Facades, an external wall insulation (EWI) system business, in November 2018.

The Alumasc operation has since been fully integrated and now forms a new business segment, K Systems, which sits alongside the other two established business brands, K Rend and Kilwaughter Lime.

Associated increases in headcount mean that the company now employs in excess of 200 people.

The company has also invested in its UK distribution centres including a bespoke facility in St Helens to improve service for customers throughout England and Wales and support the development of the EWI business.

Kilwaughter has also commenced building work on a new business support unit at its headquarters in Larne, a £2 million investment which it says will underpin its potential for future growth in its primary markets for agriculture and construction in Ireland and the UK.

Gary Wilmot, who was appointed as new chief executive at Kilwaughter Minerals last year, said: “The UK government has pledged to reduce carbon emissions in the UK and a related priority will be insulating difficult-to-heat homes.

“In addition, new housing stock in the UK will receive a government boost, with a target of building 300,000 units a year.

“Kilwaughter is well positioned to continue its focus on quality and innovation and deliver growth through serving these opportunities.”
