DUNGANNON Enterprise Centre has opened applications for its new 'Inspire to Innovate' programme specifically designed for women in Mid Ulster.

The programme, which is taking applications up until Friday December 20, aims to work towards closing the existing gender gap in entrepreneurship, overcome existing barriers to female entrepreneurship and support women’s ability to expand their life choices.

Funded by Ulster Bank through the Back Her Business initiative, it takes female entrepreneurs on a journey to explore their business ideas, develop their business skills and to learn from other female entrepreneurs.

Denise Murtagh, business development manager at Dungannon Enterprise Centre said: "Inspire to Innovate is one of our most rewarding programmes to date, and what makes it work so well is the way in which it is participant-led.

"The programme evolves to meet the needs of participants every step of the way, and we are so proud of the ladies who took part earlier this year and we are excited to work with the next cohort."

Previous participant Catherine Brown said: "I’ve been part of many programmes over the years, but never one as dynamic as this. I can’t believe the ground we’ve covered in a way that is truly inspiring.

"The varied venues, the inspirational speakers, the doers and achievers, the 'yes-you-can' attitude within the group – there is simply nothing not to like about Inspire to Innovate."

The next programme, starting in January, consists of a series of master classes, ‘Inspire Me’ site visits with successful female entrepreneurs and mentor circles covering a range of topics from personal development, to marketing, to pitching and to sourcing finance.

It will also include an alumni section so that the project can continue to inspire and work with participants of the first programme.
