BELFAST solicitor Tughans has been named Northern Ireland law firm of the year by Legal 500.

The respected ranking publication has been analysing the capabilities of law firms across the world for more than 30 years, with a comprehensive research programme revised and updated every year to bring the most up-to-date vision of the global legal market.

Tughans came in ahead of A&L Goodbody, Carson McDowell and TLT in the listing, and the timing coincided with the firm’s Christmas client drinks reception in the Merchant Hotel.

In the presence of more than 100 senior business figures, the announcement was made by senior partner Michael McCord.

He said: “Being named as Northern Ireland Law Firm of the Year is an excellent way to celebrate what has been a very successful 12 months for Tughans.

“Highlights this year have included topping the Experian MarketIQ UK and Ireland M&A Review Northern Ireland league table for the fourth consecutive year.

“We have also taken on our highest ever number of trainees, which demonstrates strong growth and ambition for the market.”

He added: “It is fitting to unveil this news and share the celebration with our clients as it is those strong relationships that underpin Tughans’ success.”
