HOSPITALITY entrepreneur Bill Wolsey has been made an honorary member of the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA).

The membership is conferred on non-architects in recognition of their contribution to architecture in Northern Ireland, and the owner of the Beannchor Group - whose portfolio includes the likes the Merchant Hotel and Cloth Ear - joins a prestigious group including artist Colin Davidson and broadcaster Kevin McCloud.

RSUA president Joan McCoy said: “Bill Wolsey recognises the value of heritage-led regeneration and the role architecture plays in creating spaces for people to enjoy. This honorary membership is in acknowledgement of his vision and contribution to the vibrancy of Belfast city centre.”

Mr Wolsey said: “I'm delighted to have received such a prestigious honour from RSUA in recognition of the many buildings Beannchor Group has taken pride in developing and improving over the years.

“I look forward to continuing with the same approach of improving and bringing back to life more unloved and unused buildings in our future exciting new projects.”
