NEWRY pharmacy McCartan’s has been awarded UK independent pharmacy team of the year.

The business, based the Fiveways complex on the Armagh Road, was presented with the accolade at Westminster on Friday.

The pharmacy, set up by Gemma and Dan McCartan just over five years ago, was recognised for its public health initiatives and work in the community.

“This year alone the pharmacy is working alongside Homestart to improve health outcomes for families with small children,” said Gemma McCartan.

“The pharmacy’s autism scheme has also been very successful, with parents reporting it has not only offered them respite but allowed their children to take responsibility for their own health.

“We at McCartan’s would like to thank all our team members who make it their mission to deliver an excellent service every day,” she added.

“To our loyal customers and patients we say thank you so much for your support. A special mention goes to all the community groups and initiatives we work with especially Building the Community Pharmacy Partnership who make all this work possible.”
