MORE ambassadors are on the streets of Belfast this summer to ensure visitors - and city dwellers too - know what's happening and where to go.

Belfast One and Visit Belfast have appointed four new ambassadors to the streets throughout the summer, each offering knowledge, advice and signposting to local and international shoppers, diners and entertainment seekers.

Liz Kerr, chair of Belfast One, said: “With the phenomenal number of first-time visitors already this summer from cruise ships and returning visitors from closer to home, and with the thousands who have descend on the city for The Open, its important they are made to feel welcome as soon as they arrive.

“Our ambassadors may be the first person a visitor meets as they wander our streets for the first time, so they are walking around the city courteously and proactively approaching those who appear in search of a landmark, shop or restaurant to offer assistance to their chosen destination or to offer advice.”

'Welcome ambassadors' can be found in designated areas across Belfast from 9.30am until 6.30pm daily to help those in need of assistance.

Mary Jo McCanny, director of visitor servicing at Visit Belfast said: “We welcome tens of thousands of visitors over the summer months, and our new ambassadors help then and local residents to get the most out of their time here.”
