THE former Tyrone County Hospital site in Omagh has been put up for sale.

The hospital, which closed in patients in June 2017 after over 100 years of service is expected to receive strong levels of interest and presents a unique development opportunity, according to property agents, Lisney.

The almost 20-acre site, located a mile from Omagh town centre, comprises a large number of existing buildings totalling around 150, 000 sq ft. These include; the main hospital block, laboratory, outpatient department and administration buildings.

There are also numerous residential accommodation buildings, a tennis court and ten car parks providing 275 spaces.

The asking price has not been revealed, but is available on application from Lisney.

Andrew Gawley, director at Lisney believes the former hospital site has vast potential.

“Sites such as this are in demand due to the location, size and redevelopment possibilities, and as such, we anticipate strong levels of interest in this opportunity," he said.

“The vast scale of this site lends itself to various uses including a hotel, retail, office, leisure or residential – all subject to planning permission.”

Irwin Potts, assistant director of strategic capital development within the Western Health and Social Care Trust added:

“This site is located in a highly sought-after area making it an attractive proposition for various parties such as investors and developers.

“A site of this size provides limitless potential for a redevelopment project and we look forward to seeing what is in store for the future of this local landmark.”

A major east Belfast warehouse has also been up for sale in recent days.

A total of six units within Prince Regent Road Industrial Estate totalling almost 34,000 sq ft are on the market, with a guide price of £1.1 million.

Of the six units, two are occupied by electrical wholesaler, Yesss Electrical and home improvement specialists, HHI.

Property agent Cushman and Wakefield said the site represents an "excellent opportunity for owner occupiers and investors" at one of Belfast's premier warehouse locations.

A prominent five-storey office building is another site to come to market. The almost 7,000 sq ft development, at 34 Shaftesbury Square, which also features enclosed parking for up to six cars, is available for £1.1m.
