A US cyber security firm has become the latest addition the booming tech sector in the north.
Cynash Inc, a leading developer of cybersecurity solutions for critical energy, water, transportation and industrial control systems, has opened a new office in Belfast, creating five jobs.
Cynash CEO, Richard Robinson credited the decision to set up in the city largely due to the support of local economic development organisation, Invest NI.
"We were attracted to Belfast because of the strong, diverse talent pool—owing in part to the close proximity to Queens University of Belfast’s Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT),” Mr Robinson said.
“This calibre of talent will be indispensable to the further development of our cybersecurity technologies.”

“We are delighted that Cynash has chosen to establish a small technology base in Northern Ireland, creating five high-quality jobs. The company’s focus on developing critical infrastructure cybersecurity solutions using patented technologies will give employees new skills and will enhance Northern Ireland’s growing ICT sector.”
In addition to the new Belfast office, located on High Street, the company has also announced the formation of an international subsidiary, Cynash International.
Cynash’s initial technology offering is SerialTap. Based on technology developed by the United States Department of Energy, this patented sensing device passively intercepts serial communications on legacy industrial control networks. It then transmits the intercepted data to a backend appliance and higher-level computing systems for further analysis by Cynash’s suite of industrial cybersecurity tools.
Founded in 2017, Cynash is headquartered in McLean, Virginia in the United States.
