FOOD-on-the-go retailer, Greggs is to open a new outlet in Omagh this week, creating 14 jobs.

The Co Tyrone shop is the brand's 16th in the north since opening here in 2017 and is located in the Showgrounds Retail Park.

The new outlet, which opens its doors on Thursday, will offer the full range of Greggs’ products – from its famous baked savouries and freshly ground-to-order coffee menu to confectionery products, soups, sandwiches.

It will also stock the vegan sausage roll, which has been in huge demand since its launch earlier this year.

Patricia McKee, Greggs area manager for Northern Ireland said:

“We’re delighted to bring the Greggs experience to Omagh. This is a busy town and we know the shop will prove a big hit, offering more choice and convenience to local customers.

“We’re famous for food-on-the-go, but the new shop also has a large indoor seating area, so those customers who chose to can sit down, relax and make the most of the Greggs experience.”

Greggs operates 1,950 shops across the UK, serving over six million customers a week.

The company diversified its growth strategy in 2013 to transform the business from a traditional bakery business into a modern, attractive food-on-the-go retailer and has invested £100 million to support growth and reshape its own supply chain.

The major investment programme has increased capacity to support shop expansion substantially beyond 2,000 outlets in the UK. There are also plans for further new sites in Northern Ireland.
