DUNGANNON Leisure Centre is set to undergo a £1.5 million refurbishment, it has been confirmed.

Mid Ulster District Council has announced details of a major investment at the centre, with work scheduled to start in early May.

The centre’s swimming pools, fitness suite, changing facilities and reception area will all benefit from upgrades as a result of the investment.

Renovations to the pool will include new tiling, pool linings, surrounds, filters and structural work, while the gym will be fitted out with a completely new range of fitness equipment and the centre’s squash court will also be revamped.

Council chair, Sean McPeake said:

“This is an extensive refurbishment scheme and represents a significant investment in Dungannon and in leisure, giving a welcome boost to the quality of leisure facilities which customers will experience and enjoy in the new-look centre.

“The renovations secure our leisure services on the existing site, allowing time for the consideration of potential longer term options for future leisure provision in Dungannon”.

The centre will close temporarily to allow the works to take place, with arrangements in place to ensure continuity of memberships and swimming programme enrolments for existing customers.
