A BELFAST IT firm has secured significant funding from a local venture capital firm to fuel international growth.

Cloudsmith has received investment from Belfast-based Techstart Ventures towards it product and ecosystem development plans.

With a global customer base spanning 17 territories, Cloudsmith offers secure digital online storage locations to help developers and high-performing companies automate and improve their software development pipelines.

The company's client base includes some of the world’s leading developer tools and cyber security businesses, with the market estimated to be worth $260 billion (£202bn) by 2023.

Cloudsmith CEO, Alan Carson said the investment from Techstart is a "vote of confidence" in its operations.

“The DevOps and cyber-security culture within Northern Ireland has never been stronger than it is today. Having the backing of Techstart is incredibly important in terms of their expertise, contacts and leverage as we prepare for the next stage in our journey."

Audrey Osborne from Techstart Ventures believes the IT business has strong potential.

“Cloudsmith brings together a great team with deep domain expertise, cutting edge technology in a rapidly growing market. Their unique Accelerated Provenance Platform and global ambitions hold the potential to create an exciting scalable business," she said.

Lee Skillen, CTO of Cloudsmith added:

"Automated software provenance is becoming increasingly recognised as a paramount piece in the jigsaw of building software securely. The broad business community and beyond are only beginning to understand the deep impact that software without provenance can have. Cloudsmith’s platform offers controls and capabilities that allow high-performing companies to trust their code.”
