THE north's first 'lifestyle care home' has reported 100 per cent occupancy after just five months in operation.

Milesian Manor in Magherafelt has exceeded expectations since opening in May, with the first-of-its-kind care home proving a popular addition to the local area.

Owned and operated by the Macklin Group, which has been successfully operating care homes in the north for 32 years, its point of difference is that it boasts a bar, beauty and hair salon, spa bathroom, café and even a cinema, along with a wellness garden with the aim of giving people in their formative years and exceptional quality of life combined with first-class care.

The home focuses on providing residents with a complete lifestyle experience and offers residents and day visitors a full programme of events delivered in a collection of specially created spaces, by an expert team of nurses and support staff. The aim is to reflect the activities they may have enjoyed throughout their lives, from dancing and singing to yoga and mindfulness, residents are encouraged to lead independent lives full of enjoyment.

Cara Macklin, director at Milesian Manor expressed her delight at the swift progression to full occupancy.

“Reaching this milestone in less than six months of opening is a wonderful achievement and endorsement to our vision," she said.

“When creating the concept of Milesian Manor, we took on board international best-practice principles from homes in Asia, Australia and the UK and sought to create the next generation of care-homes in the heart of Ulster.

“We are now operating a waiting list for people who wish to reside with us and their families who want to have peace of mind that their loved ones are enjoying their lives at Milesian while getting their nursing and or dementia needs met.”
