Holiday bargain-hunter turns hobby into high-flying business
A PASSION for finding holiday deals and sharing them with friends has turned into a high-flying business for Bangor bargain hunter Jordan McCluskey.
What started out as a hobby on social media has taken off for the entrepreneur who calls himself 'The Holiday NInja', and who has just launched a new website he hopes will become the first port of call for any Northern Ireland travellers looking for a holiday bargain.
The website (www.theholidayNInja.com) promises to take the hassle out of searching for the perfectly priced holiday by collating offers and deals from a wide range of travel companies – tailored specifically for the Northern Ireland market.
The key to the website, which is updated daily, is that it only provides offers with departures from Belfast, Derry and Dublin. All the offers are sourced from local travel companies and bookable through them.
“This all started out as a hobby,” said Jordan.
“I always loved finding holiday offers from Northern Ireland and sharing them with my friends and family. Then I created a Facebook page and later a blog, and things have literally taken off ever since.
“I've always felt there was a gap in the market for a local holiday listings site in the same way we use local classified platforms for cars, homes and jobs, and felt that if it can work in those areas, it could work for holidays too."
He added: “The Holiday NInja website fills that gap and has the potential to really change the way the Northern Ireland public search for their holiday offers. It would certainly have made my life a lot easier years ago, when I was scouring the net for holiday bargains.”
The website will allow users to search for holidays based on type – whether it be city breaks, sunshine holidays, luxury breaks or cruises - and each offer is fully detailed with contact details for the local agency who provided it.
“All our offers are from local travel agents, so you are dealing with a travel trade professional and your booking will always be safe and secure.
“We have 20 travel companies already signed up and all are reporting an increase in enquiries and bookings as a result of their offers featuring on the website, which I hope will quickly become the 'go-to' port of call for Northern Ireland holiday makers.”
