A LONDON-based financial services company has chosen Belfast as the base for a new office, creating 10 jobs.

Recent start-up McGinnis Consulting has confirmed it will open a new development centre in west Belfast at the Innovation Factory in Forthriver Business Park, with the new roles offering an average salary of £40,000.

Founded by Marius and Anne-Marie McGinnis, the firm provides financial services and information technology consultancy to Tier 1 banks across Europe and focuses on credit, market and regulatory risk business areas.

Managing director, Marius McGinnis, who is originally from the north, said setting up in Belfast was a "natural choice".

“Northern Ireland is in possession of one of the best educated financial services workforces in Europe, so it was a natural choice to locate our business here."

“As financial institutions move away from a cost focused strategy, to a more value-added location strategy, we believe Northern Ireland is uniquely positioned to take advantage of this growing opportunity. I am happy to report that our clients agree," he said.

Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £60,000 towards the new jobs.

Director of international investment at Invest NI, Alan Wilson, added:

“This new development centre in west Belfast will offer opportunities to experienced professionals to work on international blue chip projects. There are high quality Business Analyst and Project Management roles on offer, working in a niche financial services market.”
